Cleaning may be considered fun for some people, but in the eyes of most, it’s a time-consuming chore we try to avoid. Yes, hiring someone to clean is an option, but an expensive one at that. When running a successful establishment, such as a video gaming business, it is very important to keep the video gaming terminals and gaming area clean. How can you make cleaning quick and efficient in your establishment? Here are a couple tips:
Wipe Down Machines
This is a must. You don’t want your gaming areas displaying finger prints, spillage stains, etc. This could drive customers away! Make sure someone is wiping down the machines with a slightly damp, warm cloth. This goes for chairs as well. Take a slightly damp cloth with dish soap to clean the area. Many players will be eating and drinking while playing their favorite machine, so you want to make sure that there is a small table or counter nearby to eliminate the possibility of spills.
Avoid Smoke and Other Air Pollutants
Cigarette smoke has been known to negatively impact technology. For example, computers and VGTs can retain a build up from smoke, thus creating a blanketed layer over a ventilation fan that these technologies have.
Also, if you are not aware, smoking inside of your location is illegal. According to the Smoke Free Illinois Act, “No person shall smoke in a public place or in any place of employment or within 15 feet of any entrance to a public pace or place of employment.” There are hefty fines for violating the nonsmoking law ranging from $250 for first time offenders to $2,500 for repeat offenders. Ultimately, a smoking ban is good for business.
Extra Cleaning Tips for Your Gaming Area
- Make sure the garbage cans near the gaming area for empty bottles, plates, or cash out vouchers that have been redeemed (consider a recycling bin for these recyclables).
- Vacuum and mop your gaming area daily (multiple times if needed)
